OPEN DATA

What we build on.

Parts of Orderly.food rely on public datasets released under open licences. Those licences ask to be credited, and this is where we do that.

Indian PIN codes and area names

The PIN code suggestions in our forms come from the All India Pincode Directory, published by the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, on the Open Government Data Platform.

Used under the Government Open Data License – India. We have adapted it: roughly 155,000 post office records were reduced to one entry per PIN code so the suggestions stay readable. Any error in that adaptation is ours, not the Department’s, and neither the Department nor the Government of India endorses Orderly.food.

Corrections

If your area is missing, misnamed or attached to the wrong PIN, tell us on the contact page. We refresh from the official directory periodically, but a wrong name in the meantime is worth fixing sooner.
